We manage properties that inspire

Carucel Eiendom is a Norwegian real estate developer that develops, leases, buys, and sells residential and commercial properties.

Our business

The company’s real estate portfolio is primarily situated in Greater Oslo and consists of everything from individual commercial sections to larger buildings. The real estate portfolio also includes assisted living apartments and logistics buildings.

The company’s strategy is to buy and develop high-quality properties. The company is owned and operated by Carucel AS, which is owned by the Krefting family.

1. History

After 25 years as a corporate lawyer, Carl Erik Krefting left the Thommessen law firm in 2005 to become an entrepreneur. Having invested in real estate on the side of his legal career for more than 15 years, he was a key figure in the establishment of Søylen Eiendom. This later led him to establish Carucel, where Carl Erik, Carl Christian, and Caroline Krefting have been a part of the business since it launched. The ambitions are the same today as they were back then: Create unique experiences and places that inspire. Through creativity and an ability to execute, purchase and develop high-quality properties. Spot the opportunities and develop the most original solutions in cooperation with others. Enter each lease agreement with a passion for a joint project where the tenant feels seen, secure, and motivated.

An example of this is Oslobukta: The capital’s new meeting spot, uniting culture, restaurants, shops, and experiences. This former industrial district is now a cosy place to live, an exciting spot to visit, and an attractive place to work. Handling the city floor, Carucel has helped make this area a new Norwegian Mecca for retail and service.

Posthallen is another example. This building, best known as the city’s former post office, has been developed by Carucel into an original spot at Kvadraturen. You can now find shops, restaurants, offices, a fitness centre, and short-term rental apartments here, each attracting new people.

The Norwegian retail market is another investment area, where the group sees great opportunities for innovation, professionalisation, and brand-building across a variety of segments. There is also the passion project Nusfjord in Lofoten, where Carucel is preserving and developing one of Norway’s best-preserved fishing villages into a world-famous destination shielded from the forces of mass tourism.

The group also has business areas in capital management and shipping, but real estate and destination development is, has always been, and will remain its driving force. There are over 100 employees across the group in different roles with a high level of integrity who are passionate about creating unique experiences and the administration and development of real estate. The group is wholly owned by the Krefting family. The headquarters of the group are located at Fridtjof Nansens Plass 4 at Oslo City Hall in central Oslo.

The Krefting Foundation

The Krefting Foundation is a foundation with the primary goal of providing support for measures to help struggling children and youths in the capital, as well as for medical research and cultural history.
